El Toro Mexican Restaurant Partners with JuCan

The JuCan Foundation is grateful to El Toro Mexican Restaurant for partnering with us to make Christmas magic for children/families fighting cancer in #houston and beyond! Thanks to your help, Team #JuCan delivered thousands of toys to the MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital.

In addition, the #JuCanFoundation & partners fulfilled the Christmas wish list of 9 families who would have not been able to afford Christmas due to cancer treatment(s). You were a huge part of our record success this year. Please thank all of your employees and management. Thank you for your compassion and love. Please continue to follow @JuCanFoundation  to see your donations bringing smiles to families. Merry Christmas.

Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Thank you Team JuCan partners, Kelly Oetting and Marcy Smith, for giving Gloria the Christmas she deserves. So happy that Ju’s angels have always come to the rescue when they were needed the most! We learned about this sweet 17 year old girl fighting Osteosarcoma (a rare bone cancer) who lives hours from the hospital and who would not be home for Christmas this year. She would instead be having chemo before Christmas and again soon after.
So,….they brought Christmas to her! And besides, with a name like “Gloria” who can’t help but celebrate Christmas????

Thank you JuCan Angels for helping bring smiles to Gloria this year! Please pray for Gloria and her family as they seek a cure!! We ❤️ you Gloria!! #TeamJuCan will be standing with you!

Groovy Kind of Love

Groovy Kind of Love

Groovy Kind of Love

Phil Collins sang about this, but I think it’s more fun to do it! Each day, the Cobb family and Team ‪#‎JuCan‬ make it a goal to share a little “groovy love” with another person. Love isn’t love until you give it away. It was the “Julia Cobb” way to do small acts of kindness, but with a great big heart! Since she has passed, we continue to make extraordinary connections that remind us that Ju’s “groovy” love remains close by!

While we were eating at Denny’s over Christmas, we asked the Manager, Harry, about participating in our JuCan Toy Drive for The MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. As we shared, tears began to flow from his eyes. I instantly sensed the look in his eye, and the heaviness in his heart. I knew this look! I live with this heaviness. I knew what he was about to say.

Tearfully, Harry began to explain that he lost his 14 year old son, Khalid, to Osteosarcoma about 9 months ago. He shared several beautiful memories about his son and how he loved Buffalo Wild Wings! Harry often found himself at BWW, grabbing a quick takeout, and rushing back to make the delivery at his bedside (hopefully before he changed his mind). When you have a child in cancer treatment, you’ll drive anywhere, day or night, just to find one morsel they “might” eat! We spent the next hour swapping tears and sharing funny memories about our kids.

We retuned to Denny’s recently with a Valentine for Harry. We have become close friends and love to see his beautiful, Louis Armstrong, “what a wonderful world” smile! Jaxi made the special presentation, including a “Buffalo Wild Wing” gift card! I told Harry to go make a new memory in Khalid’s honor!
Our thanks to the special lady who made this gift card happen on behalf of the JuCan Foundation. We LOVE sharing groovy JuCan love with families. I hope you will continue to support our efforts at www.JuCanFoundation.org/donate, as there is a great need among families fighting cancer and/or the memory of it.

It’s Monday! And thank God for it! Share some groovy love this week! -Jonathan Cobb
#JuCan do all things!

“When I’m feelin’ blue
All I have to do is take a look at you
Then I’m not so blue
When you’re close to me
I can feel your heart beat
I can hear you breathing in my ear
